Amit Shah to lay foundation of GTU’s new campus in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar. Home Minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone of new campus of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) at Lakewada in Gandhinagar on September 27. The existing campus is functioning on temporary basis in Chandkheda area of Ahmedabad.
GTU vice-chancellor Prof Navin Sheth, informed that the new campus will spread across 100 acres and include 17 small buildings. An amount of Rs 275 crore is sanctioned by the government for this project.
Academic zone area will be built on 14068 square metre in Phase 1 and the rest of the space will be kept spare for future expansion, said GTU officials. Sports area in 12260 sq metre and residential area in 5866 sq metre will also be developed. GTU plans on generating 2221KW solar energy through panels.
GTU was established in 2007 by then CM Narendra Modi.
