Rs. 25.80 crore fake currency notes recovered by Surat Police

Surat: Kamrej police in Surat district has recovered duplicate currency notes of Rs 2000 of the price totaling Rs 25.80 crore from an ICU ambulance near Navi Pardi village.

Kamrej police, during the patrolling, stopped an ICU ambulance going to Mumbai from Ahmedabad near Navi Pardi in front of Shiv Shakti hotel at NH 48. The ambulance was of Dikri Education & Charitable Trust of Vadana in Kalawad in Jamnagar district. The police found the duplicate currency notes of Rs 2000 packed in 1290 bundles in 6 steel boxes. The notes were of the total price of Rs 25.80 crore.

‘Reserve Bank of India’ and ‘Only for the purpose of film shooting’ were printed on the duplicate notes. Surat senior officer also reached Kamrej after learning about the incident. The police have held a man named Hitesh Kotadiya. He said during the inquiry that the notes were to be used for web-series shooting. He had taken the notes from a person living in Yogichok. The police have seized the items worth Rs 5,20 lakh including the ambulance, a laptop and currency notes being carried in steel boxes. DeshGujarat
