37 Garib Kalyan Melas to be held in 33 districts of Gujarat during 14-15 October

Tapi/Gir Somnath: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will launch the 13th phase of Garib Kalyan Mela from Tapi in South Gujarat on 14th October and from Gir Somnath in coastal Saurashtra on 15th October.

The 13th phase of state-wide Garib Kalyan Mela will be held during 14th and 15th of October. Total 37 Garib Kalyan Mela are organized across 33 districts. The district in-charge ministers and office bearers will be present in the district-level programs.

Gujarat has so far witnessed total 12 phases of Garib Kalyan Mela so far, in which the aid of over Rs 34,596 crore has been provided to 1.65 crore beneficiaries directly through total 1567 Garib Kalyan Mela.

Then Chief Minister Narendra Modi had conceptualized and implemented Garib Kalyan Melas to offer direct benefit transfer to poor people in mass scale so that the beneficiaries don’t need to depend on middlemen. Instead of the beneficiary approaching the government office for benefits of various schemes, Garib Kalyan Mela is the model in which the government staffers knock the door of potential beneficiaries and invite them to Garib Kalyan Mela venue to get the benefits under various government scheme they deserve.
