Victimhood and caste card not working for Italia: Varachha rally in his support remains flop

Surat: After his shameful and abusive language and behavior went public through viral videos, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Gujarat unit chief Gopal Italia attempted to play the caste card and tried victimhood. However such tactics are seemingly not working in Italia’s favor.

On Thursday, October 13, AAP had tried to hold Tiranga Yatra in Surat in support of Italia in Varachha area as he was detained in Delhi by the Police over the ruckus AAP workers created outside the NCW office. The yatra in Varachha however didn’t evoke response from AAP quarters itself and remained a flop show as per a report in leading daily Gujarat Mitra.

The yatra couldn’t start at scheduled time 10.00 am due to lack of enough cadres. After an hour the yatra was started but there were hardly 100 people in it. Even AAP Councillors of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) stayed away from this yatra as they apparently felt that Italia’s language against the Prime Minister and his mother in viral videos was unacceptable and embarrassing.

Italia whom BJP has described as a habitual offender, had called Prime Minister Modi ‘neech’ and his 100-year old mother Hiraba who is not into politics at all as natakbaz. Italia had also described Hindu Mandirs and Dharmik Katha sessions as dens of exploitation of women. Instead of feeling sorry about his remarks, Italia and his aka Arvind Kejriwal started playing victimbood card and described his detention by Delhi Police as an assault on Patidar community. However Patidar community is seemingly in no mood to sympathize with Italia over the type of politics he is playing and the language he uses. A flop rally that failed to attract headcount in Patidar stronghold Varachha on Thursday very much made this clear. DeshGujarat
