Gujarat Assembly elections announced in two phases on Dec 1 and 5, counting on Dec 8

New Delhi: Gujarat Assembly elections will be held in two phases on December 01 and 05,2022 while the counting of votes will take place along with that for Himachal Pradesh assembly results on December 8, the election commission announced today.
Addressing a press conference here CEC Rajiv Kumar said that on December 01 i.e. in the first phase, of the total 182 constituencies, 89 seats of 19 districts (Kutch, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Morbi, Jamnagar, Devbhomi-Dwarka, Porbandar, Gir-Somnath, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Botad, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, and Dangs ) will go to polls.
The notification for the first phase will be issued on November 5 with which the nomination process will begin. The last date for nominations will be November 14. The date for scrutiny of nomination papers will be November 15, while it can be withdrawn till November 17 .
In the second phase on December 5, 93 constituencies of the remaining 14 districts (Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Patan, Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Aravlalli, Gandhinagar, Anand, Kheda, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara and Chota Udepur) will go to polls. (All districts of North and Central Gujarat region)
The notification for the second phase will be issued on November 10 with which the nomination process will begin. The last date for nominations will be November 17. The date for scrutiny of nomination papers will be November 18 while the it can be withdrawn till November 21.
CEC Rajiv Kumar said that of the total number of voters as per electoral rolls stands at 4,91,17,308. Out of these 4.91 crores about 9.87 lakh are Senior Citizens (80+) and 4 lakh are PwD i.e Person with disabilities.
With the announcement of the poll schedule for Gujarat Assembly elections the model code of conduct has become effective in Gujarat.
The total number of booths in 2022 lections is 51,782 across all the 182 assembly constituencies.
All the EVMs to be used in the election will have VVPAT attached to them.
