December 21, 2022
Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court on Tuesday said that the stray cattle menace has gone ‘out of Proportion’ and asked the state government to act on it.
The bench is hearing the petition raising the issue concerning the stray cattle menace in Ahmedabad and other major cities of Gujarat.
The bench led by Chief Justice Aravind Kumar said, “Yesterday, in Rajkot one defence personnel has been attacked and he is in a serious condition…This is what I saw on TV…This cattle menace issue has gone out of proportion. Do something for it, Mr. Advocate General.”
According to the government, the petitioner’s lawyer, Amit Panchal, had some suggestions for a solution to the problem, which they are attempting to implement.
Adjourning the matter for till next hearing on January 9, 2023, the bench ordered the cattle nuisance control departments (CNCD) of municipal corporations to continue patrolling 24×7 to impound stray cattle found on public streets. DeshGujarat
