Gram Swaraj Vidhyalaya in Padra grows 530 Mango trees with aim of ‘Atma Nirbhar’ school

Baroda: The students, staff and principal of the Gram Swaraj Vidhyalaya in Jalalpur in Padra taluka of Vadodara have grown a garden of 530 Mango Trees with aim of making the school ‘Atma Nirbhar’ (self reliant).

The Gram Swaraj Vidhyalaya of Jalalpor run by a trust named Gram Swaraj Mandal is an Uttar Buniyadi School. The principal and staff of the school also teach farming to the students along with academic studies. They have grown a mango tree garden with 530 mango trees. The principal of the school Ramanbhai Limbachiya said that they teach farming to the students for years. The school takes a fee of Rs 50 per year from the students. The facilities of drinking water, laboratory, playground, sports tools, and hostel are established with the aid from the donors. The mango tree garden is grown in the land given by the government to the school for agricultural experiments. The principal bought 130 saplings from a private company in Padra.

The school will distribute the mangoes among the students after they grow on the trees. They will be also sold in market. The income generated from it will be used for developing facilities for the students in the school. The principal said that the school will get an income of Rs 4 to 5 lakh per year as per his estimate. DeshGujarat
