Ahmedabad Metro: 10% increase in passengers as operating hours extended

Sabarmati: With the increase in operating hours, the Ahmedabad Metro has witnessed about 10 percent rise in the number of passengers. The operating hours of Metro were made 7 am to 10 pm with effect from 30th January, while the frequency of arrival of the Metro train was increased from 30 minutes to 15 minutes.

Considering the figures for the first six days of February, around a 10 percent increase in passengers is reported. In the month of January, a total of 10.92 lakh passengers boarded Metro trains, resulting in a total monthly revenue of Rs. 1.67 crores. The daily count of passengers was over 35,000 with average daily revenue of Rs. 5.40 lakh. Compare to this, in the first six days of February, 2.40 lakh passengers have witnessed revenue of Rs. 38 lahks. As per this, the daily average passengers count is Rs. 40,000 with revenue of Rs. 6.33 lakh. Thus there has been 10 percent increase in the number of passengers.

Another interesting figure is pertaining to the popularity of the route. While Vastrapur – Thaltej route witnessed 1.73 lakh passengers and Rs. 27.72 lakh revenue, the Motera – APMS route witnessed 66, 567 passengers and Rs. 10.25 lakh revenue in the first six days of February. DeshGujarat
