March 08, 2023
Motera: Ahead of high profile visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi and Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese, the Narendra Modi stadium is decked up. Large banners depicting the pictures of both Prime Ministers can be seen at the stadium, which is the largest cricket stadium in the world. A small battery-run chariot has also been placed in the stadium in which both Prime Ministers will stand up and take a round of the boundary line, waving their hands at the audience.
Both Prime Ministers may toss the coin ahead of the match. Australian PM Albanese has in an interview to a radio station stated – ‘There’s a lot of pressure on because myself and Prime Minister Modi are tossing the coin. I have no idea how it’s going to work. But he’s the home Prime Minister, so I think he will be in charge.’
In the year 2020, the same stadium had hosted American President Donald Trump. Ahead of the visit of both Prime Ministers, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel visited the stadium to take stock of the preparations. Gujarat Cricket Association(GCA) president Dhanaj Nathwani, Chief Secretary Raj Kumar, Police Commissioner Sanjay Shrivastav, State Police chief Vikas Sahay and Police Officer Neeraj Badgujar among others were present with the Chief Minister during the latter’s stadium visit.
Both Prime Ministers are arriving in Gujarat today. They shall together watch the India-Australia test cricket match for about two to three hours on March 9.
The organization of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the elected members are assigned responsibility for ensuring the smooth mobilization of cricket fans. A meeting in this regard was called at the Sabarmati Riverfront-based Event ground. DeshGujarat
