A secretary to the Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Gujarat (CUG) in Gandhinagar has been suspended for allegedly sharing an offensive cartoon on his WhatsApp status containing caste slurs.
A Dalit activist affiliated with Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch (RDAM) shared screenshots of the offensive cartoon posted by Suresh Sharma, the personal secretary to CUG Vice-Chancellor, on WhatsApp, and demanded his immediate suspension. RDAM threatened to protest at the CUG campus if no action was taken.
In response to the controversy, the university initiated an inquiry against Sharma and suspended him for 15 days. However, RDAM has demanded that a criminal complaint be filed against Sharma. DeshGujarat
