Navsari: The post-mortem report has revealed that Sahista, a Muslim female from Abrama village in Jalalpore, died due to hanging.
Sahista had a five-year affair with a Hindu man named Brijesh Patel from Khergam taluka. After her death and burial at her parents’ house, Brijesh had approached the Surat range IG alleging that her death could be an honor killing. As a result, the Navsari police removed Sahista’s body from the Kabrastan in Kalthan and sent it to Surat for a forensic post-mortem.
According to the report, the cause of Sahista’s death was hanging. The superintendent of New Civil Hospital in Surat, Dr Ganesh Govekar, stated that the signs of hanging were found on the female’s neck. As there were no signs of injuries on any other parts of her body, it is suspected that she committed suicide, Dr Govekar added.
After the filing of a crime, the police launched an inquiry into her family members. Her family conducted her burial without following legal procedures. DeshGujarat
