Massive fire erupts at firecracker factory in Ahmedabad

Bapunagar: A massive fire broke out at a firecracker factory in Vikas Estate in Bapunagar in Ahmedabad, causing panic and chaos in the surrounding area.
The fire is said to have started suddenly in the crackers factory near Anil Starch Mill and quickly engulfed over 30 firecracker factories in the estate. The fire took on a ferocious form, with plumes of smoke rising up to 1 kilometre. Over 20 fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot and have been tirelessly working to extinguish the fire.
Continuous blasts from the firecrackers have made it even more challenging for the fire brigade to bring the fire under control. Several fire brigade personnel have been injured in the operation and have been moved for medical attention.
As of now, there is no information about whether anyone was trapped in the fire.
Locals have alleged that the factory was operating without a license and kept large quantities of crackers without permission. “The reason for the fire will be known after it is doused, and it will also be probed whether the factory was operating without a license”, said Hitesh Barot, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Amdavad Municipal Corporation.
