Gujarat Police introduce regulations for social media usage by cops
June 05, 2023
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat police have implemented regulations concerning the social media behaviour of their personnel. State DGP Vikas Sahay issued an order stating that police force members should refrain from creating or sharing posts, retweeting, or forwarding content that may violate the Official Secrets Act of 1923 or any provisions of the Information Technology Act of 2000. These rules will be applicable across various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Telegram, YouTube, and others.
The newly established guidelines also prohibit police officers from making statements that reveal their political affiliations with any party. Additionally, they are advised not to participate or be members of groups that advocate for or against any particular religion, caste, creed, or segment of society. DeshGujarat
