Rajkot: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rajkot is expected to become fully operational by October this year.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited the facility on Sunday to evaluate the progress of the project. He announced that the outpatient department (OPD) of the hospital is already operational, and a 150-bed indoor hospital will be inaugurated in August, followed by a 250-bed facility in September.
Mandaviya stated, “Approximately 65% of the physical construction work at AIIMS Rajkot has been completed, and the OPD is already functioning. The procurement of medical equipment is progressing rapidly, and our plan is to complete all the work by October this year.”
Mandaviya mentioned that during his previous visit in March, there were only 800 laborers working at the AIIMS site, but the number has now increased to 2,000.
AIIMS Rajkot, spanning across 201 acres, is estimated to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,195 crore. DeshGujarat
