Vande Bharat, the fastest train to travel from Ahmedabad to Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, Mumbai; How much time it saves ?

Gandhinagar: So how fast is the Vande Bharat Express on Ahmedabad to Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, Borivali and Central Gujarat route compared to the fastest trains on this route so far.

Well, let’s first see Ahmedabad t0 Vadodara route. Vande Bharat crosses this distance in 00.53 hour, meaning 53 minutes. The second fastest train on this route is Tejas Express which takes 1.14 hour to cross this distance, while Jan Shatabdi train takes 1.18 hour and Shatabdi Express takes 1.20 hour, followed by double decker train which takes 1.21 hour.

So if you want to travel to Vadodara from Ahmedabad, the fastest option available is Vande Bharat train, or then go by helicopter perhaps.

So the next station on Gandhinagar – Mumnbai Vande Bharat Express train would be Surat.

Vande Bharat is the fastest available train on this route. It takes 2.10 hour to travel between these two largest cities of Gujarat. The fastest train after Vande Bharat is Tejas Express which takes 2.45 hour, which is about 35 minutes more. But barring these two Modi era trains, the fastest train is Pune Duronto which takes 2.52 hours, followed by Shatabdi which takes 3 hours, while Karanvati Express takes 3.08 hours and Double Decker train takes 3.12 hours.

So even on Ahmedabad – Surat route, the fastest mode of journey is Vande Bharat Express which would take little over 2 hours. There was a flight connecting Ahmedabad to Surat, but believes us, if you count procedural things before and after the flight, it would not prove faster than Vande Bharat.

Though Valsad is the district headquarters, Vande Bharat halts not at Valsad but the largest city of Valsad district which is Vapi. Halt at Vapi station is also useful if you want to travel to coastal union territory Daman. But then how much time it would take for Ahmedabad passenger to reach Daman in Vande Bharat Express? Well, just little over 3 hours. You board Vande Bharat at Ahmedabad railway station at 3 pm and at 6.13 pm you are in Vapi. A few minutes drive from Vapi will take you to Daman.

Yes, Vande Bharat takes just 3.13 hours time to travel between Ahmedabad and Vapi. The other fast train Tejas travels same distance in 3.57 hours, followed by non-Modi era initiatives – Shatabdi 4.09 hours, Karnavati 4.27 hours, Double Decker 4.30 hours and others, more than that.

The next station is in neighboring Maharashtra which is Borivali in Mumbai. Vande Bharat would drop you at Borivali at 7.32 pm, just 4.32 hours after you board it in Ahmedabad. The other fast trains are Pune Duronto which would take 5.15 hours, Tejas Express 5.32 hours, Shatabdi 5.36 hours, Double Decker 6.03 hours and others that take even more time.

A few years ago, it was impossible to believe that some train, made in India could travel between Ahmedabad and Mumbai in just little over four and half hours, but Vande Bharat has made it possible.

The final destination of Vande Bharat – Gandhinagar-Mumbai Central train is of course Mumbai Central. It is interesting to note that the fastest train connecting Ahmedabad to Mumbai Central is not Vande Bharat Express but Pune Duronto which takes 5.15 hours compared to 5.25 hours time taken by Vande Bharat. Due to its early morning timing and lack of rail traffic at that time, Pune Duronto travels faster between Borivali and Mumbai Central. Vande Bharat on the contrary is adjusted at such timing that Mumbai tracks are busier and therefore between Borivali and Mumbai Central, it is slower than Pune Duronto by ten minutes.

While speed is one thing, the pleasure and services aboard makes Vande Bharat an undisputed wonder on the track. Of course faster than that shall be the High-Speed railway which would run between Sabarmati in Gujarat and Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. It’s a matter of three to four more years. DeshGujarat
