Husband missing after leaving for US; Woman files complaint against travel agents

Prantij: A woman filed a complaint against two agents at the Prantij police station after her husband went missing for 7 months. The accused agents had promised to send him to the USA in exchange for Rs 70 lakh.

Chetnaben Bharatbhai Rabari, a resident of Vaghpur in Prantij taluka, has lodged a complaint at the local police station. Allegedly, two agents, identified as Divyeshkumar alias Joni Manojkumar Patel from Nagalpur, Mehsana, and Mahendrabhai alias MD Baldevbhai Patel from New Ranip area in Ahmedabad, promised to send her husband Bharatbhai to the United States in exchange for Rs 70 lakh. An advance payment of Rs 20 lakh was made on January 8, 2023.

Later, the agent allegedly took him and eight others from Ahmedabad airport to Mumbai. While Bharatbhai was in Mumbai, Chetnaben had a conversation with him over a call. Subsequently, Bharatbhai and the others were taken to the Netherlands, Spain, and Dominica. After this, Chetnaben lost contact with her husband. In an attempt to gather information, Chetnaben spoke to two of her family members and sent them to meet agent Divyeshbhai. Unfortunately, they did not receive a satisfactory response from him. Consequently, they decided to approach Divyesh Bhai’s superior agent, Mahendrabhai. According to Mahendrabhai, Bharatbhai is presently in Martinique and will soon reach the USA. However, despite this information, Chetnaben was unable to contact her husband for a duration of 7 months. As a result, she filed a complaint against both agents, and Prantij police have nabbed Divyeshkumar.

The other eight individuals who were sent along with Bharatbhai Rabari by the accused agents are Ankitkumar Patel, Kirankumar Patel, Avniben Patel, Sudhirkumar Patel, Pratikbhai Patel, Nikhilkumar Patel, Champaben Vasava, and Dhruvrajsinh Vaghela.

It is worth noting that the accused agent Mahendrabhai’s brother, Jagdishbhai, and his family had lost their lives last year while attempting to illegally cross the Canada-US border in their pursuit to enter the USA. The deceased family members include Jagdishbhai Patel, his wife Vaishaliben Patel, their daughter Vihangi (aged 11), and their son Dharmik (aged 3). DeshGujarat
