BJP MLA opposes MGVCL’s practice of demanding money for NOC to roof-top Solar installation

Vadodara: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Akota constituency, Chaitanya Desai while speaking in the district coordination committee meeting on Saturday said that the Government of Gujarat run power distribution company Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL)demands Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 3 lakh sum to give no objection certificate (NOC) for installation of solar power panels in residential societies.

Desai said, the government on one hand offers subsidy for solar power, but on the other hand MGVCL is not ready to increase the transformer load, nor it shares the details of load. As a result of this, when people apply for solar power, MGVCL demands Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 3 lakh from customer to increase the load and install a transformer and issues NOC only after that.

Desai protested such tactics and further stated that it’s MGVCL’s responsibility to install a transformer. Desai went on to say that if such tactics are not stopped, the people will no more install solar power panels.

Speaking in this meeting, Manjalpur MLA of BJP, Yogesh Patel asked the administration to discontinue the plantation of Conocarpus trees and remove the existing ones that are already planted. Patel said this particular type of tree sucks ground water. He advised administration to consult the experts from MS University and Forest department regarding this. DeshGujarat
