SG Highway accident case: Tathya Patel was driving Jaguar at 141.27 kmph speed, confirms Police after FSL report

Sabarmati: Police today said that more than 17 eye-witnesses are roped in and their statements are recorded. Their presence on the spot of the accident is established with supporting evidence.

Police said the Forensic report has confirmed that the vehicle’s speed was 141.27 km per hour when the accident occurred. The light of the vehicle was functioning in accordance with the level of darkness outside, it has been confirmed, said Police in a briefing today evening.

Jaguar company’s technician and engineer will send a report sought by police after they receive it from their U.K.-based headquarters soon. The report will contain the details of the build of the vehicle, its make, its engineering details, etc. that are crucial for investigating team, said Police.

Police said DNA samples-related evidence shall be received in a day or two.  In reply to a media query police said the chargesheet in this case will be filed as per the announcement made by the government last week.

Police said – Tathya’s two earlier car accidents have come to light, one from Sindhu Bhavan Road and the other from Gandhinagar. The evidence pertaining to the accident in Gandhinagar is being obtained through an insurance claim linked to that incident.

Police further informed that RTO report has confirmed that the brake of the vehicle was not failed and the vehicle had no technical defect.

Ten persons were dead on the ISKCON flyover on SG Highway last week late in the night after they were hit by an overspeeding car driven by a 19-year-old boy Tathya Patel. A Jaguar car that costs over Rs. 95 crores can take zero to a hundred km per hour pickup in just four seconds.  The government had last week announced that a chargesheet, in this case, will be filed within a week. Two more accidents by the same Tathya Patel have come to light in the course of the investigation. In one incident, Tathya broke the wall and drove a Thar SUV vehicle in a cafe on Sindhu Bhavan road. The other accident in Gandhinagar is being probed.
