Ahmedabad: The cybercrime police arrested two road transport office (RTO) inspectors and an agent on Thursday. The accused were allegedly involved in illegally issuing driving licenses to individuals without conducting the mandatory driving test.
The Ahmedabad RTO reported apparent illegal activities to the cybercrime officers, leading to a complaint being filed on July 25. The subsequent police inquiry revealed the participation of two RTO inspectors, namely Samir Ratandharia (36) from Venus Apartments in Thaltej and Jaydeepsinh Jhala (35) from Veer Bhagat Singh Nagar in Sector 6 of Gandhinagar, along with RTO agent Bhavin Shah (48) from Vidyanagar Flats in Satellite, in the illicit scheme.
As per the findings of the cybercrime police, the investigation revealed that the two RTO inspectors had shared their login credentials with the agent, who then unlawfully issued licenses to numerous applicants from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
Ratandharia, Jhala, and Shah were charged with breach of trust, cheating, and criminal conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code, along with charges under the Information Technology Act. DeshGujarat
