New Delhi: Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra stated in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that the President has given his assent to 247 bills received from state governments and Union territories between 2014 and 2022. Among these assented bills, the highest number, 24, came from Gujarat, followed closely by 23 bills from Uttar Pradesh.
According to data provided by the minister in a written reply, the President assented to 24 bills from Gujarat, 23 from Uttar Pradesh, and 22 from Maharashtra between 2014 and 2022.
As of now, there are 95 bills still under the approval process, with 11 from Uttar Pradesh, 10 from Maharashtra, and nine from Andhra Pradesh.
Mishra explained that in cases where there are observations from nodal ministries and departments, clarifications and comments are sought from the concerned states. This consultation process and obtaining feedback from stakeholders take time, making it difficult to set a fixed time schedule for such approvals. DeshGujarat
