Ahmedabad: Mahipal Singh, a courageous soldier from Viratnagar, Ahmedabad, was martyred while fighting against terrorists in the village of Phul in Jammu and Kashmir. When Mahipal was serving the country, his wife was pregnant, and the arrival of their baby was just a matter of days away. On the sixth day after her husband’s passing, his wife gave birth to a brave daughter, and the family named her Viralba, similar to ‘Virangana, meaning a brave woman.
Presently, both the mother and daughter are in good health. What adds to the sorrow is that on August 15, as the entire nation celebrates independence, the family of the martyred soldier will commemorate his twelfth day of passing.
Mahipal Singh Wala, residing near Viratnagar in Ahmedabad, was serving in the village of Phul in Jammu and Kashmir. He laid down his life in a confrontation with terrorists. The valiant soldier’s sacrifice deeply touched the hearts of thousands, and people took to the streets to honour him. Even the Chief Minister visited the family to offer his condolences.
All family members gathered at the hospital with tears in their eyes, sharing the deep emotional pain. Mahipal Singh’s family expresses that their daughter is now a Viralba. While they can never fill the void left by Mahipal Singh, they are committed to ensuring Viralba faces no hardships. They will provide her with all the happiness, convenience, and education she needs. If she chooses to join the defence services when she grows up, they will fully support her decision. The family acknowledges the support received from the government and the military, and now they collectively bear the responsibility of raising her. It’s noteworthy that before the martyrdom of Mahipal Singh, his wife Varshaba had expressed her intention to send her son to the Indian Army if she had one. Various organisations, families, and retired individuals are continually visiting the family to offer their condolences and support.
The brave soldier, Shaheed Jawan Mahipal Singh Wala, enlisted in the Army around 2016. He underwent a year of training in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Subsequently, he was stationed in Guwahati. After serving there for a few years, he was transferred to Chandigarh. Six months ago, he was posted to Jammu and Kashmir. He served in the 34th National Rifles unit.
Originally hailing from Mojidad village in Surendranagar and residing in the Viratnagar area of Ahmedabad, Mahipal Singh Vala sacrificed his life in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
