Jamnagar: Reacting to the video clip of BJP MLA Rivaba Jadeja today, Jamnagar Lok Sabha MP Poonamben Madam said Rivaba is like her younger sister and her immediate reaction was in response of small misunderstanding for a while.

Poonamben who maintained silence in line with the party discipline throughout the day, addressed the media after party’s go-ahead. She described the incident as a small misunderstanding at the venue of a function. She said the Mayor is the first citizen of the city and a dedicated party worker who has given so much to the city. Poonamben further said the Mayor was associated with Jan Sangh. It’s difficult for a woman to handle her family and the outside work (but Mayor Binaben Kothari has been playing both roles well).

About Rivaba Jadeja, Poonamben Madam said she is like a younger sister and when she was given a ticket by BJP for the State assembly election, all workers worked for her like their younger sister in spirit to make sure the victory of Lotus which is the party symbol.

Poonabmen further said – ‘I believe whatever happened was due to a small misunderstanding and for a short time. Misunderstandings and immediate reactions do happen in the family and it’s normal.  My role was only to stop her (Rivaba Jadeja) as my younger sister. The video clip is self-explanatory. A lot of times it happens that some misunderstanding takes place and a person reacts hastily. The party is a family and it’s a strong family. What happened today was a small thing, but even if something bigger happens, the party has the capacity to overcome it.

Poonamben who had remained dignified and calm when junior and younger Rivaba was rebuking her with anger in public,  admired the event and said she was there to attend it under the leadership of the city Mayor who was host of the function. The people of Jamnagar has got a Shahid Smarak through this event, she further added.

It’s worth noting that the first-time MLA of Jamnagar, Rivaba Jadeja, wife of Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja had lost her temper in a public function on Thursday morning and rebuked senior two-term Lok Sabha MP Poonamben Madam and city Mayor Binaben Kothari publicly. This was captured by scores of media cameras present there. A video clip had gone viral. As disciplined party workers, the city Mayor and Lok Sabha MP had avoided giving any remark on this. However, Rivaba Jadeja had given a detailed briefing to media persons in which she claimed Poonamben had arrived late in the function and then she offered tribute to martyrs by wearing shoes. Rivaba who had removed her own shoes while paying tribute to martyrs, claimed that Poonamben had opined that the Prime Minister and the President also don’t remove shoes while offering tribute to martyrs, which triggered a row.
