Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has concluded its assessment of the report submitted by the Justice (retired) K S Jhaveri Commission, which pertains to establishing OBC reservations in local body elections. The commission’s recommendations will soon be endorsed, said Minister of Law and Justice, Rushikesh Patel on Wednesday while interacting with the press after the weekly cabinet meeting.
Commenting on the Congress party’s apprehension regarding the government’s lack of action on the commission’s report, Patel, who also serves as the government’s spokesperson, stated, “We have received the commission’s recommendations. The assessment has also been concluded. You will witness the recommendations being approved in a short period.”
The Jhaveri Commission was established by the Gujarat government in July 2022 to provide recommendations on setting the reservation quota for OBCs in local body elections. The commission presented its report to the state government in April.
To address this, the state government established a ministerial committee led by Rushikesh Patel and comprising other ministers Kunvarji Bavaliya, Jagdish Panchal, and Bachubhai Khabad. The committee is tasked with formulating recommendations based on the report. DeshGujarat
