Gujarat celebrating Janmashtami today, the 5250th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Krishna

Devbhumi Dwarka: Gujarat is celebrating the festival of Janmashtami today. Krishna Mandirs including the ones at Dwarka, Dakor and Shamlaji and ISKCON mandirs across the state are attracting a large number of visitors today. Majority of Hindus are observing ‘Farali’ (Falahari) fast today.

Like every year, the ancient Shri Dwarkadhish Mandir, also known as the Jagat Mandir, in Dwarka is the focal point for the diverse celebrations of Janmashtami, marking the 5250th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Krishna today. A large number of devoted pilgrims are visiting the Shri Dwarkadhish Temple to partake in these festivities.

The temple is decorated with lights, flowers and other objects. The celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth or Janm-Utsav will be done at 12 midnight. The parna-nom will be celebrated tomorrow the 8th of September. People will be able to do the darshan via online mode as well.

The celebration started with the Mangla Aarti at 6 AM today. The Janmotsav aarti will be performed at 12 midnight and the temple will be closed at 2.30 AM. Later, the Parna Utsav Darsham will be at 7 AM tomorrow on the festival of Parna-Nom. DeshGujarat
