September 10, 2023
Sabarmati: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) ‘s CNCD department today in a note conveyed that it has captured over 1400 stray cattle in a month and sent them to available Gau shala, panjrapols, after the State government has started implementation of the regulatory policy 2023 from 1st September this year.
CNCD note announced that the drive will be made even more effective in time to come.
The CNCD teams capture stray cattle that are yet not RFID tagged. To make the drive more effective, AMC is in process to develop a cattle pond in Lambha area, so that more captured cows can be sheltered there till the final arrangement.
It’s worth noting, that in the past, AMC would release all captured cattle on the day of Janmashtami and give them back to their owners, for political appeasement, but this year, the AMC has discontinued this practice.
During the drive of capturing stray cattle, conflicts with cattle keepers have taken place at several places. Police complaint are filed in some of such cases in which cattle keepers entered into violent confrontation with AMC teams. Each team of CNCD is backed by security cover by armed police men.
There has been notable rise in the incidents of stray cattle menace in which several deaths and injuries to citizens are noticed. DeshGujarat
