Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Red Cross Society will open 73 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Yojana centres (generic medicine stores) across Gujarat on the 73rd birthday of Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi on September 17 with the support of the Government of Gujarat.

Red Cross-Gujarat chief Ajaybhai Patel said the stores will have 2500 different identified medicines available. He said the stores would operate closer to the people, as 25 of the 73 stores are in urban areas, 25 are in tribal areas, and 13 are in interior areas.

Patel said the infrastructure, licencing, and stock-making procedures are complete, and 95 percent of stores will start offering generic medicines to people tomorrow itself.

Patel further informed that the launching function shall take place in the presence of Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya from 10 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. on PM Modi’s birthday.
