Ahmedabad: As the highly anticipated cricket match between India and Pakistan draws nearer, some individuals are attempting to make money by selling fake tickets for the World Cup match scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera. Ahmedabad crime branch today nabbed such 4 people for selling counterfeit tickets here in the city.
DCP Crime Branch, Chaitanya Mandlik, stated, “The Ahmedabad crime branch has arrested four individuals in the case of duplicating tickets for the India-Pakistan World Cup match. Jaimin Prajapati is the main accused. He, along with Dhrumil, Kush Meena, and Rajveer Thakur, printed duplicate tickets. We have seized 150 tickets. They provided 50 tickets to one client, and we have also apprehended that client. In total, 200 tickets have been confiscated. After selling 50 tickets, they received Rs. 3 lakhs, which has also been seized.”
“In the original ticket, there are four security features, as declared by the BCCI through social media. The entire paper is colored; second, there is a unique barcode for each ticket; third, when you observe through a magnifying glass, you will see some writing, and when the original ticket is photocopied, the word ‘void’ appears on the duplicate ticket. I appeal to everyone to verify their tickets and contact the police if they possess a duplicate ticket. They sold tickets through social media platforms ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 20,000,” added the DCP.
The Indian cricket team is set to clash with the Pakistani cricket team on the pitch of the world’s largest cricket stadium here in the city. While the tickets for the match on October 14th, this coming Saturday, are officially sold out, the city police have apprehended four individuals today.
