A unique Navratri turban in Gujarat showcasing Chandrayaan, Ram Mandir, and Modi

Ahmedabad: The nine days of Navratri are set to begin on October 15th. Garba enthusiasts are already excited and preparing for the grand festival, and one such enthusiast has created a unique turban for his Garba attire. This turban stands out from the rest due to its exceptional features.

Anoj Mudaliyar, a resident of Ahmedabad, has handcrafted a turban that weighs approximately 3.5 kg. What makes this turban extraordinary is the intricate detailing it showcases. It features miniatures of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Chandrayaan 3 on the moon, and even a miniature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On the backside of the turban, you’ll find ISRO’s rocket that launched Chandrayaan 3 into space, complete with a model depicting Chandrayaan 3 and astronauts on the moon’s surface.

Describing his colorful and attractive creation, Anoj Mudaliyar, an international dancer and traditional designer, explained, “I design unique turbans every year, and this one is no exception. This turban is named ‘Ram Rajya Pagdi’ and weighs between 3 to 3.5 kg. I invest a year’s worth of hard work into crafting one turban annually. It takes me around 2-3 months to decide where each element should go according to my chosen theme.”

Expressing his admiration for PM Modi, Anoj said, “I’m a big fan of Modi ji, and every year I include his miniature in my turban. This time, I’m particularly excited because he will be re-elected. As the miniature states, ‘Phir ek baar Modi Sarkar.'”

Creating such an elaborate turban comes at a cost, with materials ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹25,000. Anuj justifies the expense by considering it as a crown for his head.

Anuj has also designed his Garba dress, known as ‘Kediyu,’ which also carries a weight of around 3 kg. The outfit costs around ₹50,000, which includes Kutchi work, embroidery, moti (beads), and lacework. DeshGujarat
