Violence over “Dargah encroachment” in rural Dahegam: A shop of Hindu ransacked

Dahegam: Extra police deployment was made at Karoli village’s Kasba area in Dahegam over damage to a flag-pillar of Dargah.
According to Sunil Patel, who runs a fertilizer shop, Gebanshah Pir dargah of Muslims is located next to a private land administered by him. The dargah people encroached the road side space and built a pillar which was not accepted to him. A portion of pillar was therefore damaged with use of hammer by him.
In the afternoon on Thursday a mob of Muslims rushed to Patel’s shop with sticks, pipes and other things and targeted Sunil Patel’s shop. The mob entered inside Sunil Patel’s shop and ransacked it.
Police team soon rushed to the place and extra deployment was arranged at the place by DySP DS Patel, Dahegam PI BB Goyal among others.
A complaint in this regard has been filed by Arunaben Ghanshyambhai Patel, the owner of the shop who has given it to run business to Sunil Patel on twenty years lease.
The names of the accused as per the complaint are Abbas Umarmiya Kureshi, Inayat Kalubhai Malek, Naeem Akhtar Malek, Aslamdin Ahmedmiya Malek, Ashfak Abbutalim Kureshi, Faruk Samsumbhai Malek, Babaro Ahmedmiya Kalumiya Malek, Tosim Asallammiya Malek.
According to complaint, the Muslims had built a pillar obstructing the passage to Arunaben’s land which is administered by Sunil Patel.
As Sunilbhai damaged it, the Muslims rushed to his shop, broke the lock, ransacked it, threw the items including Rs. 35,000 cash outside and also issued death threat.
The other complaint has been filed by Abbasmiya Umarmiya Hamumiya Kureshi(34), a laborer who does color work.
He has in his complaint said that about five days ago, an RCC pillar was built at the open land near the road opposite Dargah for placing a flag. Sunil Patel came there and started demolishing it using hammer and argued that this pillar was on the road. He then damaged the pillar and went away and hurt religious sentiments. DeshGujarat
