Spas under police scanner in Gujarat: 2000 places raided in 3 days, 204 FIRs filed

Gandhinagar: Over the past three days, the Gujarat police have carried out operations at approximately 2,000 spas and hotels, resulting in the arrest of 183 individuals as part of a comprehensive effort to combat the sex trade across the state, said an official statement on Saturday. As part of this ongoing operation, the police carried out raids at 454 locations today.

A total of 204 first information reports (FIRs) have been filed against 279 individuals, with 183 arrests made so far in these three days.

The statement further explained that since Thursday, the police have been conducting unannounced inspections of hotels and spas throughout the state as part of a special campaign initiated by Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi. During this extensive crackdown, all premises suspected of engaging in sex trafficking under the guise of legitimate business operations were targeted.

In a video conference with senior police officers, Sanghavi had emphasized that the Gujarat government is determined to eliminate sex trafficking operations taking place in hotels and spas. DeshGujarat
