Junagadh: Traders in Keshod here have announced the closure of the market (Bandh) in protest of the increased tax rates at Gadoi Toll Plaza on Junagadh-Somnath Highway.
The tax rates at the Gadoi Toll Plaza have been raised, leading to traders in markets such as Ambawadi, Bus Station, and Mangarol Road area to keep their shops closed in protest against the continuous toll tax hikes. The traders are demanding the cancellation of the toll tax increase. The traders also alleged that despite their representations to the authorities, no favorable outcome has been achieved.
One of the traders, while speaking to the media, mentioned, “A meeting was held at the collector’s office regarding the toll tax hike, but no solution was found that would benefit the traders and the public. The toll rates have been increased by Rs. 60 in a single go, and there are discussions about further rate increases in the future.”
He added, “We have already paid road tax when purchasing our vehicles, and the roads are constructed with our tax money. So, why should we be burdened with additional taxes?”
The traders have indicated that if the toll rate increase is not revoked, they will intensify their protest. DeshGujarat
