Air travel from Gujarat airports soars to 12.8 lakh in Sept 2023, a hike of 2.26 lakh from Sept 2022

Gandhinagar: With the increase in the number of flights and airports in the state, Gujarat has recorded around 40% rise in air travel compared to the previous year.

In September 2023, a total of 943,344 people traveled by airplanes, compared to 779,428 in September 2022 from Ahmedabad airport.

From Surat airport, 104,721 people traveled in September this year, compared to 93,961 people in the same month last year.

In Vadodara, the number of air travelers increased from 88,489 in September 2022 to 112,381 in September 2023.

Rajkot airport saw 85,139 people traveling in September this year, compared to 64,929 in the same month last year.

The number of passengers at Jamnagar airport increased from 9,647 in September 2022 to 13,585 in September 2023.

The airport authority, while releasing the report for the month of September, stated that there is a 40% increase in air travel from 2022 to 2023.

It’s also worth noting that the airport authority anticipates the movement of around 10,00,000 people from the newly inaugurated Rajkot Greenfield airport by the end of this year.

On a national scale, a total of 2,97,79,321 people used air travel in September this year, which is approximately 48 lakh more than in September 2022 when 2,49,44,924 people traveled by air. DeshGujarat
