Australian who entered the ground during match wearing pro-Palestine t-shirt arrested

Ahmedabad: In a major security breach, an Australian citizen rushed to the field during the India-Australia final match of the Cricket World Cup today in Narendra Modi stadium. A man reached Virat Kohli who was batting for India at that time. He touched Virat Kohli with the Palestine flag. The man was wearing a t-shirt with a pro-Palestine slogan seeking Israel to stop bombing.

This was an embarrassing situation for the city police as the union Home minister was himself sitting in the audience. A couple of policemen from the Crime Branch, joined by others took out the man. He was later taken to Chandkheda police station for interrogation where a formal police complaint has been filed against him.

According to a police complaint filed by Chandkheda Police the accused is identified as Ven Johnson from Sidney Australia. At around 3.30 pm, he tried to jump the net. When the staff tried to stop him, he pushed them and jumped the net to enter the ground. He reached the batting pitch of the stadium, from where he was caught and brought outside the ground. When questioned he revealed his name as Wen Johnson from Sydney, Australia, and said his age was 24. When asked why he entered into the ground, he claimed he was a fan of Virat Kohli who was batting at that time on the pitch.
