ICG Director-General on Gujarat visit for high-level sea exercise

Jamnagar: Director-General of the Indian Coast Guard, Rakesh Pal, is on a visit to Gujarat until 25th November for a high-level sea exercise to be conducted off Vadinar (Gulf of Kutch).

The press statement of ICG stated, “DG Rakesh Pal, PTM, TM, Director General Indian Coast Guard is on a four day visit to the Indian Coast Guard, North Western Region for chairing the meeting of National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan (NOS DCP) and National Pollution Response Exercise (NATPOLREX).”

The Director General will chair the meets at Vadinar, Jamnagar that will see participation of Senior Government Officials, various stakeholders from across India and more than 25 representatives from Foreign countries.

The sea exercises for NATPOLREX will be carried out at sea off Vadinar on 25 November 2023 wherein practical simulated exercises will be conducted by ships and aircraft. Indian Air Force transport aircraft is also taking part in the exercise along with other stakeholders like oil handling agencies viz IOCL, Reliance, Nayara, Adani etc.

ADG KR Suresh, PTM, TM Coast Guard Commander (Western Seaboard) will also be present during these meetings and exercises. The meets have been planned at Vadinar/Jamnagar considering the amount of oil handled by ports in Gulf of Kutch and sensitivity of the engulfed coast. DeshGujarat
