Patan: The construction of the new bus port, valued at Rs. 70 crore in the city, has been ongoing for six years. With over 80% of the work complete, the bus port is expected to be ready for operation in another 6 months.
The RCC construction of two floors of basement parking, five floors above ground, and 22 bus platforms has been completed. Flooring and finishing work have commenced, and to expedite the project, an additional labor force of 50 is being deployed.
In 2018, this project was initiated to replace the old bus station in Patan city with a new and modern bus station. Despite facing setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the work has resumed, with 50 laborers currently engaged. Another 50 laborers from Bhuj will join the workforce, with the goal of completing all remaining tasks within six months, as disclosed by S.B. Trivedi, Deputy Engineer of the Mehsana Construction Department.
The current progress indicates that the two-storey underground parking, accommodating 1000 cars and 2800 bikes, is ready. Construction above ground level has reached five floors, and 22 platform forms are prepared. Only the remaining work, including plastering and finishing-style painting, is left to be completed, according to infrastructure sources. – DeshGujarat
