A 450 kg Nagara being made in Gujarat for Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Ayodhya

Ahmedabad: As the auspicious consecration ceremony for the new Ram Mandir in Ayodhya approaches on January 22, 2024, Ahmedabad’s Akhil Bharatiya Dabgar Samaj is making a unique Nagara, weighing 450 kg and measuring 56 inches wide, for placement in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir. This Nagara is designed for performing aarti at the Pravesh Dwar.

The Nagara will showcase a gold and silver dhol, complemented by intricate carvings. The three-month-long construction engaged dedicated artisans from the Dabgar community across the state.

The leader of Dabgar Samaj mentioned that the Nagara is slated to be placed at the entrance to the Ayodhya temple and will be delivered before December 25th. The construction cost of this tower amounts to Rs. 8 lakh.

With an estimated lifespan of 1,000 years, the Nagara will be complemented by a chariot featuring representations of Rama, Sita Mata, and Lakshmaji. Over 25 artisans worked tirelessly, with an additional 10 artisans from Uttar Pradesh contributing their skills to the artwork. The artisans worked 24 hours a day in different shifts for three months to prepare it. Brass spheres have been strategically placed atop the Nagara to prevent damage. In total, four Nagaras will be placed in the temple. The Akhil Bharatiya Dabgar Samaj collected donations from various places across the state to fund the Nagara’s creation.

It is noteworthy that, in Ahmedabad, seven flagpoles for the temple are also under construction. Additionally, in Vadodara city, a 108-foot-long and 3.5-foot-wide incense stick (agarbatti) is being crafted for use during the temple’s inauguration ceremony. DeshGujarat
