Gujarat tops startup ranking as best performer for 4th consecutive time

Gandhinagar: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal unveiled the results of the Startup Ranking 2022 in New Delhi on the occasion of National Startup Day on Tuesday.
Under the initiative ‘Startup India’ Gujarat has achieved the distinction of being the best-performing state in the startup ranking for the fourth consecutive time.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has congratulated the Industries Department of the State Government and the entrepreneurs associated with the startup ecosystem for achieving this distinction.
Also, India today has become the largest startup hub in the world, with approximately 1 lakh, 17 thousand recognised startups, and 111 unicorn startups.
To encourage more innovation and entrepreneurship in the states of the country, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Central Government launched a scheme for a startup ranking framework.
Under this framework, recently, for the ranking of the year 2022, DPIIT and Startup India assessed 33 states and union territories in the areas of seven crucial reforms based on 25 action points.
In the results of this evaluation announced on Tuesday, Gujarat has received the Best Performer State award for the fourth consecutive time.
Senior officials of the state industries department and Team Gujarat accepted the award at a function organised in New Delhi on Tuesday.
It is important to mention here that Gujarat has launched the first-ever Startup Policy 2015 to give impetus to the startup culture in the state.
There are more than 9,200 recognised startups in the state. Not only this, the state government has encouraged youth entrepreneurship by launching the ‘Gujarat Young Entrepreneurs Venture Fund’ with a fund of Rs 1,000 crore to support youth entrepreneurship at the initial stage. DeshGujarat
