Prohibited area opens for tourists; Coastal International Border Visit facility launched in Kutch

Bhuj: Tourism Minister Mulubhai Bera today virtually launched ‘Samudri Seema Darshan’ initiative in Lakki Nala area near Koteshwar mandir in the border district Kutch. The project was launched physically on the site by local MLA and district collector.

The minister on this occasion said, the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCGL) has launched this second border tourism project after the first one which is already attracting thousands of visitors at Nadabet border near Banaskantha. The visitors will board a boat operated by the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) to visit the coastal border of India – Pakistan.

At present the 6-seat, 12-seat and 20-seat boats are allocated for coastal border visits. Of them a 6-seat boat was launched today. The boats will operate as per the high-tide and low-tide situations of the coast. The area so far was prohibited for visitors and accessed only by the Border Security Force and other security agencies.

The government today informed in a note that in the near future, several facilities will be developed here for visitors. They include a floating jetty, watch tower, marine interpretation centre, mangrove walk, food kiosk, information centre, convention centre, public utility, Border Security Force(BSF) interaction facility, Bhunga resort, adventure park, nature trails etc.

The project, apart from the tourism department, also involves BSF, forest department and GMB. The minister said, the visitors will in future will also be able to visit various islands in coastal area where they can pay visit to mangrove forests. Thus boat ride, island visit and mangrove safari visit will be various attractions under this project.
