Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad to reconstructed in 36 months

Ahmedabad: The largest railway station of Gujarat which is Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad will be redeveloped. The Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi will on 26 February virtually perform ground breaking for the works for redevelopment of Kalupur railway station via video conferencing. The new railway station will come up in place of the old on the theme of Modhra Sun temple of Mahesana.

The new railway station will be ultra-modern like an airport. The target of completion of works is 36 months. The tasks such as surveys and relocation are already underway at the existing railway station to make a way for the new one. An elevated road network will be developed connecting Kalupur bridge and Sarangpur bridge 10 meters above the land. The plans are made keeping the traffic and scope of passengers in year 2060 in mind.

A multi-model transport hub towards Kalupur will have a 16-storey building with two basements. The first six floors will have provision of parking space. Above them on 4th and 5th floor will house the offices of railways. All the floors above will have passenger facilities. A concourse 10 meters above the ground level will make it possible to reach bullet train station and metro station. A 35 acres project has provision of separate designs for arrival and departure. The works will be carried out in phased manner as this is the main railway station of Gujarat. DeshGujarat
