Ahmedabad: Vastrapur pond in the city will remain shut for about next six months for visitors due to revamping and repair works that are to be taken up by Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at a cost of Rs. 5 crore. Scores of morning walkers had complained about menace of rats across the garden including the walking track areas. The lake was developed about twenty years ago by Amdavad Urban Development Authority (AUDA). Previously a slum and garbage-dump, the lake located in the Western area of the city was redeveloped along with provisions for rain water conservation. Recently there were complains regarding upkeeping and maintanance of the garden, especially the walking track and the pond area. DeshGujarat
