BJP announces candidates for five-seat Gujarat Assembly by-polls

Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the list of candidates for five-seat assembly by-polls in Gujarat, polling for which is going to take place alongside the Lok Sabha polls on 7th of May this year.
Party has fielded Dr. CJ Chavda for Vijapur seat. Arjun Modhwadia will be the party candidate for Porbandar seat. Arvind Ladani is fielded on Manavdar seat. Chirag Patel will contest Khambhat seat. Dharmendrasinh Vaghela will contest Vaghodia seat.
All these persons were MLAs on same seats till they resigned from the State assembly in recent months. All of above barring Dharmendrasinh Vaghela were Congress MLAs. Dharmendrasinh was an independent MLA. By-polls are necessited due to their resignations from the State assembly.
The opposition has not announced their candidates on these seats. It is yet uncleared whether main opposition Congress would contest all these seats or will allocate one or more to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). DeshGujarat
