Ahmedabad-Delhi journey in 3.5 hrs in Bullet Train; NHSRCL working on project
April 16, 2024
Ahmedabad: With the Bullet Train to Mumbai expected to start from 2026, the Amdavad is looking at another bullet train project that will connect it to the national capital, New Delhi.
The anticipated new service on the elevated track promises to reduce travel time from 12 hours to just 3.5 with an average speed of 250 km/h. The BJP, in its election manifesto, assured a bullet train corridor each in North, South, and East, and the Ahmedabad-Delhi route will be one of the six projects planned by the government.
Earlier in 2020, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC) initiated the bidding process for the project’s final alignment design. Pending approval from the Centre, the project aims to reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Delhi by approximately nine hours through a nearly 900km elevated corridor. As per a news report, to minimize land acquisition challenges, railway officials have opted to align the tracks with the existing railway network, thus streamlining the planning process and reducing the need for extensive land procurement.
As per the planned route, the service will commence from the Multimodal Hub at Sabarmati Station and will pass through nine major stations in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Haryana before reaching Delhi. The targeted maximum speed of the train is 350 km per hour. DeshGujarat
