Priyanka Gandhi campaigns for Congress in Gujarat

Banaskantha: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited Gujarat today to campaign for her party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in the state on May 7th. While addressing a rally in Lakhani, the Congress General Secretary criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to him as a ‘shahanshaah’ (king of kings) who resides in a palace and remains disconnected from the public. Her remarks were in response to PM Modi’s ‘shehzada’ jibe aimed at her brother Rahul Gandhi.

Addressing the public meeting in support of her party’s candidate Geniben Thakor, the Congress general secretary highlighted her brother’s efforts, mentioning his 4,000-kilometer journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to engage with people and understand their issues.

Priyanka also accused the BJP of attempting to amend the Constitution to diminish the rights bestowed upon the people. She emphasized that Modi’s governance over the past decade has significantly weakened public rights.

During a rally in Gujarat on Thursday, PM Modi had targeted Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that Pakistan desired him as India’s next PM, insinuating weak leadership under the Congress. Priyanka rebutted this by contrasting Modi’s luxurious lifestyle, portraying him as detached from the struggles of ordinary citizens.

In Banaskantha, set to vote in the third phase on May 7, the BJP has nominated Rekha Chaudhary, an engineering college professor and first-time candidate, to contest against Congress’ Thakor.
