Trip in 66kv line, substation fire cause power outage in Ahmedabad outskirts

Ahmedabad: Areas on the outskirts of the city, such as Bopal, Shela, and Sanand, have been experiencing power disruptions over the past three days. The reason for the outage was a fire at a substation and the tripping of a 66kv line between Vadavi and Bopal.
According to officials, there was no general power supply issue, but the tripping of the GETCO 66kv line between Vadavi and Bopal caused disruptions in Bopal, Shela, and Sanand. Additionally, a fire at the Bopal substation exacerbated the situation on Saturday, although an alternate 11kv line was utilized to restore electricity.
A senior official from GETCO acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the tripped line but assured that measures were taken to prevent further outages. GETCO will also be installing new 66kv lines between Bhadaj and Science City, as well as Sanand and Ghuma, in order to tackle the increasing demand and the strain it puts on the existing infrastructure.
