Air India introduces Self Baggage Drop system at Ahmedabad Airport
May 15, 2024
Ahmedabad: Air India (AI) on Monday introduced a Self Baggage Drop (SBD) system at the domestic terminal of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport to streamline the baggage check-in process for passengers. This system allows passengers to drop their bags at kiosks, obtain tags, and proceed directly to security check-in.
Following Indigo Airlines, Air India became the second airline to implement this system at Ahmedabad Airport. To use the SBD services, passengers need to visit the self-check kiosk, input the required information, and print the baggage tags. These tags should be attached to the bags for machine scanning. Once the bags are dropped off, the machine will generate a receipt, which the passenger must collect before proceeding directly to security check-in.
Ahmedabad’s domestic airport handles approximately 250 flights and 25,000-30,000 passengers daily, often resulting in long baggage drop queues. This new system aims to alleviate that congestion. DeshGujarat
