Insect found in ice cream candy at Chhaswala in Jamnagar; Outlet fined

Jamnagar: An insect was found in the Alphonso Mango candy ice cream from Chaswala, located in Patel Colony of the city. Acting on this, the food department of the city civic body imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on the outlet.
According to the food safety officer of Jamnagar Municipal Corporation, “We had received a complaint last night. Based on that complaint, we conducted an inspection at Chaswala. They have a product called Alphonso Mango Duet, and there was an insect inside the product, which is a manufacturing defect. We have taken a sample of the product and fined the outlet Rs. 10,000.”
“We will also inform the Ahmedabad zonal officer about the manufacturing defect so that further action can be taken,” the officer added.
