GMRC announces likely period of launching Ahmedabad – Gandhinagar Metro train

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) today said it will apply to the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for testing of Motera – Gandhinagar metro rail by the end of the month of June this year.
The metro train on Motera – Gandhinagar sector one route will be launched around July end this year, GMRC said in a note released to media.
GMRC said that load testing on two main bridges on this route – Sabarmati bridge near GIFT city and cable stayed bridge over Narmada canal near Sughad has been done. The load testing and stations related works will be completed in coming times, GMRC stated.
The much delayed project was to be made functional before the Lok Sabha elections, however due to various reason, it was delayed. The metro rail line connecting Motera to Gandhinagar will be a crucial link between the largest city of Gujarat to the capital town of the State. The metro line will provide an option to road journey between two important destinations of the State. DeshGujarat
