Three-layer security at counting centres on June 4 in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Nine companies of paramilitary forces, including the Border Security Force (BSF), are to be deployed at 26 counting centres across Gujarat for the general elections of Lok Sabha 2024.
While paramilitary forces are deployed in each counting hall and outside the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and VVPAT strong rooms, the State Reserve Police (SRP)’s security cover shall be outside the counting halls, for which 12 SRP companies are allocated.
As many as 12,000 local police jawans and 3,000 Home Guards are to be deployed inside and outside the counting centre boundaries. This three-layer security will guard the counting centres where over 15,000 staffers, 56 counting observers, 30 election officials, and 130 assistant election officials will carry out the work of counting votes.
