Voting, which occurred between April 19 and June 1 across 543 Lok Sabha seats, will determine one representative per seat for the Lower House of Parliament. A majority of 272 seats is required for any party or coalition to form the government. This year’s election was the second-longest since India’s inaugural election in 1951-52.

Vote counting has begun under tight security. Trends usually emerge within an hour, and results are generally clear by the afternoon. The counting of EVM votes will commence 30 minutes after the postal ballots, according to poll officials.
