Toll tax revised at Kathpur Toll Plaza on Ahmedabad-Himmatnagar highway

Vadodara: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced revised toll rates for approximately 1100 toll plazas nationwide, effective from today. The increase in toll rates across the country ranges from 3% to 5%. The user fee at the Kathpur Toll Plaza on the Himmatnagar-Chiloda section of National Highway 48 (formerly NH-8) has also been raised.

National Highway 48 (NH 48) is a major highway in India that starts in Delhi and terminates in Chennai, traversing seven states including Gujarat. The Kathpur Toll Plaza is located on the Shamlaji to Motachiloda stretch when traveling from Ahmedabad to Udaipur via NH 48.

According to NHAI officials, this adjustment in toll rates is part of an annual process based on fluctuations in wholesale price index-based inflation. NHAI typically increases toll rates every April. However, due to this year’s Lok Sabha general elections, the new rates have been implemented starting from June 3rd. The decision to increase toll plaza rates was made two months after the Election Commission of India directed NHAI to enforce the higher toll rates after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, coinciding with the conclusion of the election process.
